Job Description
Hours: Monday to Friday 8 - 16.30
Contract: Permanent Employee
Location: Based in Warrington with frequent travel to other sites including Spalding, this team work remotely sporadically.
Reporting into Head of Engineering Projects and Innovation, this role forms part of our Engineering team in the UNBOX tribe. Unbox’s responsibility is delivering boxes to customers; the goal here being a high quality unboxing experience that is sustainable. We strive to ensure quality, accuracy and scale through automation and innovation.
The Engineering Project Manager will be a subject matter expert in electrical, mechanical automation, systems, AutoCAD drawing understanding, proposals and designs. A strong cross-functional communicator. You will deliver and implement projects; responsible for plans, budgets and execution.
Core Responsibilities

Conduct Capital Engineering feasibility studies to evaluate potential improvement projects.

Develop initial and detailed design solutions for engineering problem statements.

Lead cross-functional teams to successfully execute projects while ensuring safety, engineering, and food standards compliance.

Ensures adherence to HSE, ISO, and food safety standards throughout project lifecycles.

Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for engineering disciplines, defining and enforcing industry standards.

Manage contractors and internal supply chain customers, ensuring project expectations are met.

Work with suppliers to propose capital proposals and automation solutions and lead feasibility discussions.

Provide technical direction, identify risks and opportunities, and develop solutions during project implementation.

Track and communicate project progress, risks, and deliverables to stakeholders.

Execute performance trials, review outcomes, and drive solutions for continuous improvement.
Who You Are
You’ll be a Strategic thinker who can balance short- and long-term goals while assessing risk, with a focus on sustainable, high-impact results. A true Project Manager you will oversee site activities and prioritise. You will use your communication skills to engage and influence, as well as network to build key relationships. You will also have:

Practical knowledge of food hygiene standards in installations and machine design.

Extensive experience of leading multi-functional projects within the FMCG industry.

Understanding of HACCP principles backed by certification or prior experience.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices and the ability to implement efficiency improvements.

CDM knowledge

Contractor management experience

FInancial analysis capability

Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, including PUWER, CE, COSHH, and machinery safety standards.
